D11 Steamboat!

Posted by mira

Tadaaa.. D11 Steamboat.Wanna know sumthin? actually, The term steamboat is usually used to refer to smaller steam-powered boats working on lakes and rivers, particularly riverboats; steamship generally refers to steam-powered ships capable of carrying a (ship's) boat.

And now.. we redefine steamboat in the foodies world! small boat with food!!! hot and steamy!

Location : D11 Steamboat @ Yu Kee Coofee Shop No. 2, Jalan Ban Hock, Kuching (just behind Hornbill Steamboat Restaurant).

Price : RM16.50 per adult!! (Cheapest i've ever found)

Provide : 2 cooler fridges of a variety of seafood (fish balls, crab balls all types of balls, all types of meat except PORK, marinated, crabs, prawns, squids, cockles), free flow of ice-cream, buffet of ready-cook dishes, all types of veges!

~enjoy~

Craving for Seafood? I know a place.. well, actually a stall at this place, No. 25! Try it out, we had 4 dishes for rm50, for 4 of us.. we really agreed that the price is very cheap considering the quality AND quantity! Try it out. I recommend the MONGOLIAN CRAB, as my fren, Melinda Crocker had recommended to me too! Really delicious, you'd eat you eyes out.. ! :)

Location : Stall no. 25, Roof top of 'Taman Letak Kereta' (Building across Sarawak Plaza and Hoilday Inn Hotel, next to Tun Jugah), around 150m walk from Waterfront, Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.

Our first choice; Sea cucumber soup; combination of slices of sea cucumber, mushrooms, carrots, eggs, a lil' crab meat, etc.. The soup is starchy, a lil' sour just to tip off the tongue.. great soup.

Serves well with a lil' rice!

Three extra flavors to add with; some chilly, garlic and sauce!!

Japanese tofu and mixed vegetables. Best eaten with rice.

Sweet and Sour Chicken; deep fried chunks of chicken with big onions, cucumber, tomato, capsicum and pineapple cubes and fresh leeks served with special sweet and sour sauce. Really crispy and goes well with the sauce.

This is the first time I've tried the 'MONGOLIAN CRAB', according to my taste buds, the sauce is made up a delicious combination of blended black-pepper sauce and plum sauce, an extra hot and spicy taste with a little bitter edge of the pepper bits and some sweet and sour taste of plum sauce! Terrific blend mix! Really outstanding for me! I love this!

My favourite so far!

Eating out at the First Family Cafe

Posted by mira

The First Family Cafe is another eatery outlet which i had tried for the first time. It was late around 10pm and we havent had our dinner.. so the quest began.. haha..

Location : First Family Cafe, Tabuan roundabout. (The roundabout to pending area and town area).

la menu..

It seems that their specialty is also the chicken & pork pansuh (cooked by stuffing the ingredients in a long bamboo over a slow fire)! Sarawak's local specialty!

Our drinks.. iced lemon tea and iced coffee. It's just of the norm. Same 'ol same 'ol.

This is a very weird combination. It's Kampung Fried Rice, but at first i thought that the fried fish were salted fish, but they were'nt, they're 'ikan lumek'. Sarawakian call 'em that, I will find the name later.. It's a long slim fish, withs lots of bone but if you fry 'em dry, it's really deliciously crunchy.

:)

Buttered Chicken Rice.. This is not really my fav so far, the one at Tun Jugah was better, but this is very delicious too. The chicken is deep fried wholly and the gravy is of a sweetened buttery taste. Combine the chicken with just mere white rice, terific i tell you! ;)

~enjoy~

Welcome to the Waterfront Cafe & Restaurant! A great place for enjoying seafood, a lovely buffet and some light drinks. Open for all and dishes are halal. I like the place because it's fully air-conditioned and the place serves a hell of a spaghetti - damn hot and spicy! i liked it! served like kolok noodle style. The dinky pirates had a delightful meal of chicken rice, seafood spaghetti and iced lemon tea and iced horlicks to top the dish off! I'm loving it!

Location : Waterfront, Kuching City (replacing D'Alif Restaurant), beside the municipal square. U can't miss it, it's by the side of the main road.

Welcome..

Nice seatings eh? I like the middle part, the buffet style..

There's even a OHP to watch movies, etc.

The chicken rice.. all set up to eat.. A chicken rice best served with its soup, chicken is tender inside and a lil' crispy on the outside if you prefer skin that is, top it off with the sauces, sweet sauce and the original chicken rice blended chilly sauce.

Lovely ain't it?

The Seafood Spaghetti.. Hot and SPICY!! This spaghetti is a fried version, not an original meat+tomato sauce gravy, its something like the Sarawakian Kolok Noodle. The extra on this is that the spaghetti is fried with loads of chilly and seafood bits (a lil' crab, squid and prawn) to spice it up.

mmmMMMmm!!

Iced Lemon Tea.. Sugar syrup is given to you, so, the sweetness depends on you, the tea is very strong and it was good.

Iced Horlicks.. Creamy horlicks, same ol' same ol' horlicks on the go. Nice.

Care for some SUSHI??

Posted by mira

Sushi anyone? This is one place I'd like to be, coz it's not crowded, the sushi's are great and cheap as well, I'd go for the Bento's coz they're really filling and the sushi's on the belt are way way ok too, drained 'em down with hot green tea.. You'll surely love it!

Tips: If you're really a good eater! You're welcome to try the sushis and move on to the bento set, as for me, i needed either one, coz, i cant fit all in! haha! the bento is really filling so, i suggest pick one to savor the taste of it all!

Welcome to Akira Sushi!

Yesh.. yesh.. Im yer chef.. yah yah..

im lovin' it!!

It's dinky!!! These are cheap plates, the RM2 plates of tamago (egg) sushi and another two types. I was aiming for teh bento set! :)

The belt..

Affordable prices too!

Voila, my mixed fried bento set!

Look at that...

Yumm!! The bento is mad eup of, fragrant white rice, a portion of sushi, a portion of boiled sweet potato and white carrots, the mixed fried portion of: fried squid, prawn and some sweet potato, served with some fruits: honey dew and you have your miso soup which is a delightful tofu-kelp soup.

The two MUST-HAVE!

Wasabi! this goes for all the sushi's. You must mix it with the black sauce, or the sweet sauce, either one brings out the flavor. Then, dip any sushi into it.. Careful of the amount, it's HOT!

Pickled Ginger! This, i like, coz, the ginger is pickled in some choice vinegar and the taste is preserved in it, you'll get a certain crunchiness about it

Great seatings!

Eating out at My Kampung Dot Com

Posted by mira

This place; My Kampong dot com is a great place to hangout with frens till the wee hours and what more of a place to have your late supper here as well.. The place is situated at the Kuching's waterfront, a great view of the river and some soft breeze at night for you... Try it out, Less than RM10 per person for the dish n drink.. The dinky pirates had Fried Rice - Chinese Style (Nasi goreng Cina) and Mamak Fried Noodle (Mee mamak) and to top that off with Iced Lemon Tea and Bandung.

My Kampong dot Com

Just a small stall with such big powers!! haha!

Dinky pirates's drinks.. Iced lemon tea and Bandung.. The tea was just nice and bandung here was the ordinary type - a mix of red syrup with evaporated milk, very nice.

Fried Rice - Chinese Style.. (Nasi goreng cina). The original fried rice of any kind is usually serves with a spoon of sambal and a sunny-side-up egg!

Closer view.. Yum!!

Fried Noodle - Mamak Style, This choice of noodle is different from teh ordinary fried noodle, Mamak style is referring texture, a lil' wet because the noodle is fried with a hot 'n spicy sambal. Bits of chicken meat or beef and some egg with a handful of veges to top it off. I'd recommend this to Hot 'n Spicy lovers!

YUmmmmmmMMY!!
